ESG rating agency assessments
Sustainability is crucial for GEA. We operate transparently and regularly have our sustainability performance assesed by rating agencies. GEA has received top ratings and rankings from: EcoVadis, CDP, Sustainalytics and MSCI.
GEA is also listed on the DAX 50 ESG, Dow Jones Sustainability Europe Index and MSCI Global Sustainability Indexes.
The ‘Gold’ rating from EcoVadis places GEA in the top five percent of all companies worldwide for sustainability management.
GEA holds two CDP leadership rankings for performance and reporting transparency: an ‘A’ for tackling climate change and an ‘A-’ for acting to protect water security.
GEA has again received the "Supplier Engagement Leader" award from CDP in 2023. It recognizes the company's commitment to implementing risk prevention and environmental protection measures with its suppliers.
In 2024, GEA received a rating of ‘AAA’ (on a scale of AAA-CCC) in the MSCI ESG Ratings assessment.
Following the index review in June 2024, GEA remained in the FTSE4Good Index Series. This is designed to measure the performance of companies that demonstrate strong environmental, social and governance (ESG) practices.
In September 2022, GEAs ‘Prime Status’ (leadership in its industry index group) was confirmed.
In 2024, GEA received an ESG Risk Rating of 14.2 and was assessed to be at Low Risk of facing material financial impacts from ESG factors. GEA’s ESG Risk Rating is in the 2nd percentile (1st=lowest risk) in the Machinery industry.**
In 2024, GEA was recognized by Sustainalytics as an ESG Industry Top Rated company.
Following the index review in December 2023, GEA remains a component of the Dow Jones Sustainability Europe Index and was also included in the Dow Jones Sustainability World Index.

GEA recognized by CDP with ‘A’ score for transparency on climate change
GEA scores an ‘A’ for its transparency and performance on climate change by global environmental non-profit organization CDP. This marks the third time in a row that the mechanical engineering company has been included in CDP’s A list, which is the highest possible rating. According to CDP, GEA is only one of a small number of companies that achieved an ‘A’ – out of 21,000 companies scored.
SBTi validates 2040 net-zero target
The Science Based Targets initiative has validated GEA’s 2040 net-zero target. This is based on a scientifically validated assessment of the climate targets and the associated reduction measures. The SBTi validation confirms that GEA’s pathway to net zero is consistent with the Paris Climate Agreement.
GEA included in the renowned Dow Jones Sustainability World Index for the first time
GEA Group Aktiengesellschaft will be included in the Dow Jones Sustainability World Index (DJSI World) for the first time. As of December 18, 2023, GEA is the only German company to be newly added to the DJSI World. GEA will also remain a member of the DJSI Europe for the second consecutive year.
